Hello Nemo
The W126 manual CD in English language (your link) does NOT contain any information about the HPF suspension!
This is the MBUSA manual on CDs, and the US manuals do not include that version, probably because the W126 HPF models were not offered in North America. (*)
The German W126 CD does include the HPF section, but as usual it is only the information for basic maintenance and R&R of components plus a bit of diagnostics and diagrams.
Much more in detail and absolutely necessary for an understanding of the system are the "Introduction into service" manuals on the HPF.
There are two for the W126, but both assume that you already know the complete HPF system from the original introduction in the W116 model 450 SEL 6.9 in 1976.
Many people who deal with the W126 models and do not have experience with the W116 predecessor miss out the essential information on HPF!
In other words, the study should go in the following sequence:
1. Hydropneumatic suspension chapter in the introduction to service manual 450 SEL 6.9 (1976)
2. Hydropneumatic suspension W126 introduction to service manual (1981)
3. Hydropneumatic suspension W126 from 1986 introduction to service manual (1986)
In other words, if you work on a 1990 model with HPF II, it is not feasible to just refer to the last of the three service introduction manuals. Each following version assumes that you already know the previous one, there is no repetition of everything.
And the workshop manuals assume that you know the introduction to service manuals.
The introduction to service manuals (1. to 3. above) are definitely NOT included in the W126 CDs and DVDs.
The english versions used to be availabe from the MB Club London. If required, contact James
mbenthusiast@callnetuk.com who know more about the Mercedes service literature than any of us here.

(*) There is no information in the MBUSA manuals on the manual heating and air conditioning system either, because the automatic climate control was standard on the North American market. A lot of other differences. So beware of using these CDs for European models!
