Sorry to post a non readable swedish-english-german text. Thanks a lot for your answer V8. Lets be a littler more specific. [br]
I have read that MB-126 is expensive to own. One thing is the petrol another is insurance. But these are easy to calculate. What about the cost for service/maintenance/spare parts. If you compare with the w124 is the service/spare parts more expensive. One side is how often you should put in to service, how many km interval?[br]
God quality means low risk for major breakdown. How big risk for (as an example) a transmission break down? What the cost for it (compared to w124)? What are the big “risks”, that you don’t want to happen, but does sometime.[br]
Some wrote (in the newsgroup alt.auto.merceds) that the w126 broke down more often because they are more complicated (in comparison with a w124). This also explained why the maintenance cost is higher. Is this the truth? Some wrote this concerning the engines, meaning that a 6:er is more cost-effective because the V8 is more complicated. I understood you preferred the V8 (wouldn’t it be strange if one with your pseudonym preferred a 6 cylinder:-) Are there any features in these cars that you try to avoid, the kind of features that cost a lot and use to break after a while. [p]
If I understand you correct, it’s hard to find a good car at the Mercedes dealers. Is this the case even if you find one with only 1 or 2 previous owners? I have been very surprised that the cars from about 1990 I have seen only have 12 000-17 000km, in Sweden these cars most often have more than 20 000km. Can anyone explain that?[br]
I hope you understand my English, and maybe some of my questions are possible to (at least partly) answer.[br]
Best regards[br]
